Baby Lydia Pennenberg was born on February 16th weighing 8 pounds 7 ounces. She was taken home just after 24 hours after her birth.  A routine follow up a week later showed elevated levels of bilirubin, which led to other medical tests at the Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee.  Test results showed this baby has acute liver failure. Baby Lydia needs a living liver transplant to survive. The liver is a very unique organ because of its ability to regenerate itself, each section or portion of the liver has its own blood supply, therefore, doctors are able to take that from an adult. Baby Lydia needs a very small portion, the smaller the person, the smaller the segment to donate to the baby.  The ideal candidate would be 18-40 years old, type A or O blood, weighing 80 pounds or less. If you’re in good health and have the desire to save a life please fill out the forms on this link and if you pass the criteria, a coordinator from the hospital will be in touch with you  http://froedtert.com/liver-donor.  Save One Baby.
