Description of Patient Situation
Hello my name is Ruth Banks, I have complete kidney failure caused by diabetes and blood pressure. I also have congestive heart failure . I am a Missionary and the wife of a pastor, a mother of 3 grown and 3 grandchildren My husband and I have started our church and prison ministry, we visit the male and female prisons throughout Illinois and counsel them on a mission to win their souls for Christ,in fact some of the members of our church were in those prisons were able to get early releases. I love my work,but being on dialysis three times a week is hindering my ability to travel and go out in the community as a Missionary and bring people closer to Christ,but despite that I still try as hard as I can do carry on with my mission despite my illnesses, but I feel so drained and exhausted after my dialysis treatments,it is getting more and difficult for me.
I desire a kidney because I would love to be able to live to see my youngest grandchildren finish school and go to college. My grandson,Jerrad often asks me, “why do I have so many doctors appointments “and have to go to the hospital so often, and I can’t do nothing but explain to him that I have to do it because it is important. I adore my grandchildren and they love me so much.
I would love to be part of their lives as they continue to grow up.
In Addition I have a passion for cooking and I enjoy people eating good food prepared by me. My specialties are homemade rolls, sweet potatoes pies potatoes salad and my signature peach cobbler. If I had a new kidney one of my goals would be if possible is to open a restaurant, and aside from that, I could also use my facility to feed the homeless and less fortunate in our Church,community and Chicago Metro Area.
Because of my illness, I am prevented from accomplishing my life dream.
