Missy Timmins is in for the fight of her life. Missy is 50-years-young, and a resident of Bay County, Florida. She was diagnosed with PKD (polycystic kidney disease) in her twenties. Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is an inherited disorder in which clusters of cysts develop primarily within your kidneys, causing your kidneys to enlarge and lose function over time. Her mother and two brothers have it. Her late grandmother had the disease, too. For more than 30 years she has been living with this disease. In 2016, she was told to look for a donor. It’s been five years Missy is patiently waiting for a living kidney donor. Timmins is on home dialysis treatment for 12 hours a day and a more intrusive dialysis treatment may be in her future as her condition deteriorates. Timmins is blood type ‘O’.
