Save a Life! Athina Athanasiadis is a dental hygienist from  Massachusetts. In 2018, at the age of 28, she was diagnosed with stage 3 CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease). Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is when the kidneys have become damaged over time (for at least 3 months) and have a hard time doing all their important jobs. CKD also increases the risk of other health problems like heart disease and stroke. Her kidneys were 40% functional at that time. In 2021 her kidney functions deteriorated to 12%. This year she is facing end stage renal failure. She is on dialysis four times a week. Each session lasts three to five-and-a-half hours. She is now only 34 but needs a kidney to live. Athina has many things to see, many places to visit, many things to achieve. If you have a desire to be an angel, in good health with blood type ‘A+’ or ‘O’ and would like to save a life, please  call the MGH donor follow up clinic at (617) 643-7193 or visit https://www.mghlivingdonors.org for more information. Anyone considering being Athina’s living kidney donor can sign up as a potential living donor, by going to the link. For an exact match, donors must also have A+ or O blood, but should they not, Athanasiadis could still receive a kidney. The National Kidney Registry’s exchange program would allow Athanasiadis to still receive a kidney from an unknown living donor while the known donor’s kidney would go to another person in need. Can you give her the gift of life? With your gift Athina can have a second life to live and can do many things a 34-years-old can do. Please share your spare with Athina. Spread her story, Save One Person, Save The World.
