š Sharonās Story:
Sharon has dedicated her life to serviceāas a Sister of Mercy, a first-grade teacher, and later a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist. Her days were spent helping children and families heal.
But now, Sharon needs a miracle.
Last year, she was diagnosed with stage 5 chronic kidney disease, likely caused by long-term prescription medication. Her kidney function is now below 20%, and without a transplant, she will need to begin dialysis.
Her blood type is O-positive, which unfortunately comes with the longest wait timeāup to 8 years for a deceased donor.
Her doctors are urging a preemptive transplant before her condition worsens. The best hope: a living donor.
