🌟 Honoring Dr. Sal Pascarella: A Legacy of Leadership, A Moment of Need
For over five decades, Dr. Sal Pascarella devoted his life to education and the Danbury community — including 15 remarkable years as Superintendent of Danbury Public Schools. His tireless efforts led to transformative growth: the expansion of Danbury High School, the creation of Westside Middle School Academy, and the foundation of the Career Academy initiative.
Now, four years into retirement, this beloved leader faces a personal health crisis. At age 76, Dr. Pascarella has been diagnosed with advanced Stage 5 kidney disease. To survive — and to continue being present for his wife, family, friends, and grandchildren — he urgently needs a living kidney donor.
“A living donor kidney transplant would allow me to return to a more active and fulfilling life,” he wrote in a heartfelt email to a close circle.
💬 A Private Man, A Public Request
Those who know Dr. Pascarella describe him as a humble and private man. Sharing his diagnosis was not easy. But the outpouring of support — phone calls, messages, and kind words — has deeply touched him.
“To see that kind of care coming to me… I’ve just gotten a host of emails and phone calls. I’m just blown away,” he said. “I have the deepest appreciation and love for the city of Danbury.”
Despite testing, his family members have not been found to be compatible matches. Now, the call extends to the broader community: Could you be the match he needs?
