Ethan Hackney
Ethan Hackney, a 6-year-old boy from Herring Cove, Nova Scotia, was diagnosed at two weeks old with congenital nephrotic syndrome, a rare kidney condition.
His kidney function has fallen dramatically—from 77% to 24%.
Because Ethan is a young child, doctors are seeking an adult donor under 40.
The donor needs to have Type O blood—O positive or O negative.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO KNOW ETHAN TO HELP
You may not be able to donate—but you can still help this little boy’s story travel.
• Share Ethan’s story with friends and family.
• Forward this message to people across Canada.
• Talk about living kidney donation with people who may be eligible.
• Follow and share the family’s public awareness campaign.
• Keep Ethan and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
Sometimes the person who can help is not a relative or close friend.
Sometimes they’re simply someone who heard the story and decided to learn more.
ONE LITTLE BOY. ONE EXTRAORDINARY NEED. ONE POSSIBLE MIRACLE.
Ethan has spent his entire life fighting a disease he never chose. Now his parents are asking Canadians to help them find the person who might be able to give him something priceless:
• More time to simply be a kid.
• His mother is searching.
• His family is sharing.
• His community is rallying.
